Very interesting but hilly course. Can be very tight in places.
Set amongst the Ronda hills, Los Arqueros is just a short drive from San Pedro de Alcantara and Puerto Banus and has lovely scenic views all the way down to the Mediterranean sea. This is one of the most tranquil and stunning settings to be found on the coast. Accuracy and direction rather than length are the key factors in producing a good round.
The 5874m long par 71 Los Arqueros golf course has three lakes supplied by the nearby Rio Verde.
It was the first Costa del sol course designed by 1997 Ryder Cup captain Seve Ballesteros and opened in 1991, a challenge to all levels of player.
Facilities include driving range, practice chipping and putting, saunas, air conditioned squash courts, fully stocked pro shop. The atmosphere at the club is both friendly and welcoming.
Located in the hills above San Pedro it offers a challenge to all levels. A very hilly terrain means you will have to play your sloping lies well to score on this one. There are some very tight fairways the 7th is the most narrow fairway I have seen, take no more then 7 iron and you will still be shouting at it to stay on the short stuff.
Small fast greens make for an interesting round, how ever take a deep breath and look at some of the stunning scenery, count to ten and then hit your 3rd putt another par is recorded on the card, and all is well again until the next tee. Always to be found in good condition and also very reasonable rates well worth a visit.
The golf course and surrounding development is owned by the British builders Taylor Woodrow, who have been developing there for the past seven years. A selection of properties from 2 bed apartments to individual Villas, all with well maintained roads, lighting and communal gardens and built to a high consistant standard. Residents have reduced fees and the option of membership. This area appeals too many and rightly so, it is a very powerful package indeed.
