Two 18 hole courses with wide fairways. Well worth playing. Walk able.
With two of the busiest and most popular golf courses on the Costa Del Sol, Mijas Golf is definitely doing something right. Both 18 hole courses were designed by Robert Trent Jones. Golfers will enjoy Trent Jones’ creation with its gentle, undulating fairways and the general impression of wide open space on the two courses.
Los Lagos (the lakes) is the longer of the two at 6404 metres and it is named after its seven thirsty water hazards. It’s greens are wide but contoured and well protected by bunkers. The greens are the USGA specifications and the fairways are of 419 Bermuda grass.
Los Olivios is narrow in parts and needs good course management, many bunkers but little rough makes for a fair challenge. Fairly flat course set in a valley with grainy greens.
Los Lagos has many water features and the fairways are distinctively wider, slightly more undulating course however, you are still able to walk it quite easily. Both are to be found in superb condition all year round and between them they offer many challenges for all levels of golfer.
The Two courses are surrounded by many different types of properties apartments from 160,000 euro to large villas at over 3 million euro. Many developers are present but there are currently no golfing deals for property owners as there is a large waiting list for membership. This may well change in the very near future as they have recently announced the building of the third course.
