Santa Maria Golf and country Club has come to occupy a well-earned place amongst the elite golf clubs on the Costa del Sol. The 18-hole course offers players a challenging game with a view of both the mountains and the Mediterranean. The first nine holes were designed by Antonio Garcia Garrido, and when these holes opened, the club became very popular with members.
The second nine, designed by the club's technical staff, opened in 1996 and the course has now matured into one of the finest along the coast.
Amenities include a new clubhouse, clubhouse restaurant with terrace, bars, and a lounge . There are also tennis courts, swimming pool and a lawn bowls club on the club's grounds.
Santa Maria is one of the prettiest courses on the coast with stunning views. Well maintained and manicured, nothing left to chance.
The Layout is interesting and quite tight in places with very strong par threes and well designed par 5´s with the correct balance between risk and reward. Many of the pars 4’s are drivable for the longer hitter and no real chance of using many medium to long irons anywhere; you will be rewarded for good wedge play and as usual good putting.
The greens are generous and undulating in parts but fair and true. Overall a good package that suits the less experienced golfer best of all, the single handicapper may not enjoy the challenge as much but cannot fail to be impressed by the courses beauty and tranquility.
